Pick Your Own Cherries
A very weather permitting crop. Some years we are not lucky to have them at all. It's all up to Mother Nature. Sweet cherries will explode in your mouth!
Available the end of June through mid July. Fresh picked cherries are also available in our farm store Saturday and Sunday, and pre-picked at our farm stand Monday through Friday.
Health benefits of Cherries
Cherries are one of the very low calorie fruits; however, are rich source of vitamins (C, A), antioxidants (melatonin) and minerals (zinc, iron, potassium).
Pick cherries that have bright, shiny skin with green stem firmly attached to the top of the fruit.
To prepare cherries right before eating, remove the steam, wash them gently in cold water, and pat dry in a paper towel. Ripe ones can be eaten as a whole including skin to get the maximum benefits.
Keep fresh cherries in the refrigerator with the stem attached. Whenever you wish to eat them, just rinse cherries in lukewarm water and to bring them to room temperature. Then, gently pat dry with a paper towel to remove moisture.
Wash and drain well on paper towel. Place in freezer on cookie sheet single layered. After frozen, store in containers.
