Pick Your Own Pumpkins & Gourds
Pumpkins are very versatile. They are small, medium, and large to carve, use for decorations, cooking, and baking. You can even roast the seeds for a delicious snack. Our gourds are unique. They come in many shapes, sizes, are brightly colored used for decorations inside or outside your home.
Available October through early November. Fresh picked pumpkins/ gourds are also available in our farm store Saturday and Sunday, and pre-picked at our farm stand Monday through Friday.
Health benefits of Pumpkins
Pumpkins are rich in beta-carotene and low in calories and saturated fat. They are also a good source of potassium and dietary fiber and vitamins (A, C, E).
Pick/Cut pumpkins/gourds that have a tight outer skin, a fine woody note on tapping, heavy in hand and dry, and a stout stem.
Pick your own Gourds!
Once at home, fully ripen pumpkin can be stored for many weeks at cool, well-ventilated place at room temperature. However, cut sections should be placed inside the refrigerator where it can keep well for a few days.
Cut the stem end and slice the whole fruit into two equal halves. Remove central net like structure and set aside seeds. Then cut into desired sizes. In general, small cubes are used in cooking preparations.
