Pick Your Own Strawberries


Description/Availability

First beautiful PYO crop of the season starting early to mid June, lasting till early July. Picking usually last only for two weeks, so come early. Sweet as can be!

Fresh picked strawberries are also available in our farm store Saturday and Sunday, and pre-picked at our farm stand Monday through Friday.


Health benefits of Strawberries

Strawberries are low in calories (55) and fats. They are a rich source of health promoting vitamins (C, B-Complex, E) and minerals (potassium) that are essential for optimum health.


Selection

Pick shiny, firm, plump, deep red with attached green caps.


Preparation

To wash strawberries, dip them in cold water, paper towel dry and in a large bowl for few seconds and swish gently few times.


Storing

Place them in a wide bowl or spread out on a plate covered with a paper towel, then cover with plastic wrap. Keep them out of the sun and in a hot car. They keep fresh in the refrigerator for approximately 4 days.


Freezing

Wash and drain well on paper towel. Place in freezer on cookie sheet single layered. After frozen, store in containers.
